Winters back wonder if the beaver knows........

Well its been an interest couple of days. Winter has returned with a healthy dumping of snow and Tina's car thought it was to cold to start this morning. I love it when a women needs help with her car, especially when it is 6:00am and she is your wife and she is late for work. Now she definetly owe's me one. Well I had the kids out skating on a great pond this past couple of evenings. It is a pond down the road and across the way, what a great skate! There was evidence that the Beavers are restless. They have been able to keep a couple of spots from freezing by the looks of it,which has allowed them to continue surfacing at the edge of the pond. I guess they are preparing for there little kits or have had their little kits by now, I remembered that beavers have their young late in the winter so come the spring thaw the little guys' are ready for swimming leassons.

Went on the same walk with Tina and Anika on Sunday that I went on the other day. It was another perfect day, clear skys big bright sun and lots of fresh tracks to wonder about and inspect. Found a huge set of buck 's tracks with a set of wolf or large coyote tracks right in tow. I am guessing wolf because there was only one set and they were rather large. Anika was so excited about the walk, I think she felt a little lucky to have Tina and I to herself.

Well this is the big weekend, Mardi Gras is finally here. I think it will be a great turn-out and should really help to shed a little more light towards "A gift of art", which it really needs at this time. I am looking foreword to all the interesting costumes to be seen and of course Bradley Boy and his fine repertoire of songs and jokes.

If I was going to make a recommendation to anyone reading it would be to go and read a book, sometime sooner than later, titled "The hidden messages in water" by Masaru Emoto. You will never look or feel the same about water ever again. It is remarkable! I just read it again since a couple of years ago and boy did it really resonate with me this time around. The author has gained much recognition for his research and has published a half dozen books or so by now. It is a little bit like that book "The secret life of plants only a little easier to read and a lot harder to put down.

I just want to thank Marijo, my aunt, for setting this blog up for me. It is fun and a great way to share thoughts and have memories published. Thanks for showing me this opportunity and for all the work you have done on the website.

Found a picture of Tina and I on our trip inHawaii back in Sept. That is a small freshwater creek in the background running into the ocean. Hawaii is surely a treasure in that big Pacific. Definetly want to go again another time. The Napali Coast is were the photos were taken. We found Godzilla etched in time on the coast line.

3 bowls and a walk

Turned 3 bowls to a finish early this morning on my new lathe. Scored a General 160 at an auction, glad I went, looks like it is going to be a great addition to the shop. The 2 small bowls are burl redwood and the larger is poplar. I am a new-bee at the lathe but I can foresee establishing a fine addiction to it. This will sure help to put much of my wood collection to good use. I look foreward to doing some stems for Tina's wine goblets as well as other colaborative works.
This afternoon I went on the most amazing walk with Ellie, Kira and Anika. It started out on the road done towards there bus-stop. Ran into Kieth Warden with a friend before we got to the 8th, they were on horseback headed to the Ganaraska. We headed towards a trail that I thought would be frozen enought to walk on through the woods up to a huge open field that I knew would be a great spot to see lots of animal tracks and great views of the area. Well I was correct, it was Awsome! The trail was completly solid and we just floated along the top of the snow with hardly a depression. When we got to the huge field it was magic, the dogs (Willow and Rupert) took right off and the kids followed behind. I have never seen these kids run and jump with so much excitment and joy (except on the soccer field). The open expanse and the ability to just float right on the surface, without plunging into the snow depths was a real treat. Will have to take Tina their for sure. Glad to be alive on days like today!
