3 bowls and a walk

Turned 3 bowls to a finish early this morning on my new lathe. Scored a General 160 at an auction, glad I went, looks like it is going to be a great addition to the shop. The 2 small bowls are burl redwood and the larger is poplar. I am a new-bee at the lathe but I can foresee establishing a fine addiction to it. This will sure help to put much of my wood collection to good use. I look foreward to doing some stems for Tina's wine goblets as well as other colaborative works.
This afternoon I went on the most amazing walk with Ellie, Kira and Anika. It started out on the road done towards there bus-stop. Ran into Kieth Warden with a friend before we got to the 8th, they were on horseback headed to the Ganaraska. We headed towards a trail that I thought would be frozen enought to walk on through the woods up to a huge open field that I knew would be a great spot to see lots of animal tracks and great views of the area. Well I was correct, it was Awsome! The trail was completly solid and we just floated along the top of the snow with hardly a depression. When we got to the huge field it was magic, the dogs (Willow and Rupert) took right off and the kids followed behind. I have never seen these kids run and jump with so much excitment and joy (except on the soccer field). The open expanse and the ability to just float right on the surface, without plunging into the snow depths was a real treat. Will have to take Tina their for sure. Glad to be alive on days like today!
